The first Congress took place on 20th and 21st June 2009 with the motto 20 Years of Transformation: 1989 – 2009. During the meetings, the participants recapitulated the importance of women’s activity in the previous 20 years of social and political history of Poland. Besides three plenary debates, 14 panel discussions were held. They were dedicated among others to women in local governments, in businesses and on the labour market, to the health of women, and to domestic violence.

The Congress formulated 135 postulates in areas covering politics, local governance, labour market, entrepreneurship, trade unions, health, education, science, media, violence, alimonies, national minorities, pensions, the 50+ age group, women trafficking, and women’s rights protection. The two main demands were to introduce gender parity in electoral lists and to appoint an independent plenipotentiary for equal treatment.
